Custom Control Panels & Nameplates - Adhesives
When Lexan® Polycarbonate is selected as your material of choice, there is an option for adhesives. We offer your choice of three 3M adhesives to suit your needs. Custom Control Panels & Nameplates - Adhesive Free Areas
Our 10-mil Lexan® Polycarbonate allows for areas with no adhesive since it is subsurface printed and the adhesive is added at a later time. Windows and areas where the control panel will cover push buttons are common areas where adhesive may not be desired. Adhesive areas can come in almost any shape and size. A minimum .250" of adhesive is required at the perimeter for guaranteed adhesion. Specify adhesive free areas in your art file. Allow .050" tolerance around all windows.
In the example, 6 Adhesive Free Areas are shown. Any area where adhesive is not needed is counted. Common adhesive free areas are transparent windows over screens and LEDs and areas where the control panel fits over buttons.
Custom Control Panels & Nameplates - Transparent Windows
Transparent Windows can be clear or printed with one of our 8 transparent colors. All Transparent windows with the exception of the LustreLook (material coming soon - contact CustomerCare for a custom quote) will have a velvet finish that diffuses light.
In the example, 4 Transparent Windows are shown. Count all colored transparent and clear transparent windows.
Custom Control Panels & Nameplates - Cutouts
Internal cutouts are all cuts in addition to the perimeter of your control panel. Tolerance for perimeter and all internal cutouts is +-.010"
In the example, 8 Cutouts are shown. Any area that is removed to make room for a plug, switch, dial or button will count as a cutout. Only count areas around the perimeter of your label if they are notched out of the main line of the perimeter.
Custom Control Panels & Nameplates - UL & RoHS
Many of our Control Panel products meet the requirements for UL (Underwriters Laboratories) recognized systems and are also RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Compliant.
UL Compliance -- If your Control Panel or Nameplate requires UL Recognition, be sure you have checked the UL box at the top of the quoter. This will limit your options to only those that fit the UL criteria. All of our control panel printing colors qualify.
RoHS Compliance -- If your Control Panel or Nameplate requires RoHS Compliance, you can be assured that all control panel and nameplate materials and adhesives are compliant. The transparent colors and standard printing colors are all compliant with the exception of any color containing yellow or orange.

We offer 8 transparent colors to choose from for your control panel or face plate windows. Please keep in mind that any of our Lexan® or Lexsaver® products velvet finish will diffuse the light being transmitted through the window.
Please note: If your transparent window(s) are clear with no color, do not select a transparent color.

Custom Control Panels & Nameplates - Colors
We offer 50+ printing colors to choose from. These printing colors will be opaque. If your control panel or faceplate has transparent windows, white will automatically be chosen to back all printing in these colors. In addition to our standard colors, we can produce hundreds of other PMS colors by combining our standard colors below. (Note that this technique will always be more costly than using a single standard color, and it is not appropriate for certain types of graphics like small text or thin lines where registration of the two colors would be a problem.)
