Parking Permit Design
Your parking permit design will be determined by the kind of permit information you need to display, the style of permit you choose, and any special requirements you might have. You can however start with one of the functional designs below, and modify it as needed.
Clicking on the appropriate Quote this Permit associated with each design and application will take you to our Instant Quoter, with the key parameters already filled in. Once in the Instant Quoter, feel free to change the quantity, or change the colors to suit your needs. The parameters provided are the recommended selections for each specific application of parking permit, tag, sticker or decal. We suggest you follow the material (substrate) parameters to ensure best results.
For standard quantities of 100, 250, 500, 750, and 1000, you may also print the appropriate Order Form in PDF format, fill in the information for the permit you want, and fax it back to us. For pricing on quantities over 1000 or for materials not shown in the quoter, please contact us.
Each of these designs are included in the downloadable Mac and Windows templates available at the bottom of this page which you can use as a starting point in creating your own parking permit designs.
Large Parking Hang Tag: hangs from review mirror, works in any vehicle. Easy to reuse and reassign to another vehicle. A combination of 10 mil PVC Plastic with 5 mil LexSaver® overlaminate provides excellent strength and resistance to curling.
Small Parking Hang Tag: smaller version of hang tag described above. Works in any vehicle. Easy to reuse and reassign to another vehicle. 10 mil PVC Plastic with 5 mil LexSaver® overlaminate.
Small Oval Parking Permit: Small size can be applied to back of rear view mirror, inside windshield, outside windshield, or on bumper. Use appropriate material based on application location, and need for permanence.
Square Regular Print Parking Permit: Larger than small oval, it can be used inside or outside windshield, or on bumper. Large enough to be seen from 20-30 feet. Colored text against primarily white background is particularly effective when using reflective vinyl.
Square Reverse Print Parking Permit: Same as Square Regular Print, but most of text is reversed out on colored background, with white around the edges. Useful if color needs to be recognized from a distance.
Parking Permit Materials
Although virtually any of our over 40 different substrate materials could conceivably be used for parking tags and parking stickers, a few are most common and provide certain practical benefits:
10 mil white PVC Plastic: (Parking Hang Tags) most common hang tag material. When combined with our 5 mil LexSaver® overlaminate, hang tags will resist curling and fading for 3 to 5 years. Easy handling, durable, matte white finish.
Standard 4 mil Vinyl - Clear & White : (Parking Stickers, Parking Decals) economical and has 5-7 year outdoor rating; softer than polyester so if permit barcode is to be scanned with a contact barcode wand it should be laminated with 1 mil clear gloss polyester; will conform better to uneven surfaces, like windshield curves, than polyester. Clear vinyl can be reverse printed allowing application to inside of glass, as well.
Removable 4 mil Vinyl - Clear & White :(Parking Stickers, Parking Decals) similar to Standard 4 mil vinyl, but has a special removable adhesive allowing permit to be easily peeled off with little or no residue for 6 months to a year after application.
7.5 mil Clear Static Cling: (Static Cling Parking Decals) highly plasticized vinyl film designed to adhere to glass and other clean, smooth non-porous surfaces. For interior vehicle use only. Very easy to apply and remove. Can be reapplied multiple times.
7 mil Reflective Vinyl: (Parking Stickers, Parking Decals) outdoor reflective white. Easy to spot at night due to reflective nature of material. Very long lived material often used by states for vehicle license tags. Breaks apart if attempt is made to remove it.
Parking Permit Color(s)
Any of our standard colors can be used on parking permits; gold or silver colors will be more expensive than other colors. Numbering and barcodes should be black on white background, and if using material which is not white (such as static cling and clear vinyl), white should be printed as a background color for numbering or barcodes.
Name/ID Text
Most parking permits are large enough to allow for your logo to be added. Every parking permit should allow room for your site/lot name. Any font can be used, however for legibility we recommend Arial, Helvetica, or Futura, in a size no smaller than 10 point bold. If you need more characters than your permit width will allow, you may try "Condensed" or "Narrow" versions of these fonts.
Year, Date, Permit Numbering and/or Barcode
Consider adding expiration dates and permit numbers to your parking permit design to make vehicle inspection easier and more effective. For human readable parking permit numbers, you may design directly into your graphics file, using color and effects such as drop shadows. In your file, design with the highest number you will have in your sequence in order to make sure you have enough space. Indicate in your instructions to us the beginning and ending numbers in your sequence, and if you want leading zeros to make all the numbers have the same number of characters (e.g. 003874).
If you use one of the templates below to start your custom parking permit design, do not edit or change numbers in any way. We will set your numbers/characters according to your instructions. All barcodes may be either "human readable" or barcode only. If you use barcodes in your design or in the template provided, please specify "human readable" or not in your instructions. White should be printed behind barcodes on materials which are not already white (e.g. static cling, clear interior materials). Follow our Barcode Instructions to determine barcode type and size.
